Akshay plays shades of Ranjeet

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar says his character's traits in "Housefull 2" are inpired by the way veteran actor Ranjeet used to ogle at women in his earlier films.

"My character in the film is that of a guy who loves admiring women. He easily gets distracted by the presence of beautiful women. There are many men who do that...they forget the conversation and start ogling at women," Akshay told IANS.

"My character takes little inspiration from Ranjeet sir..like he used to be in his earlier films. It does not take from the negative shades of Ranjeet but the way he used to look at the women," he added.

"Housefull 2", directed by Sajid Khan, will release April 5.

Sunny Deol's looks great in Bhaiyyaji Superhit

Sunny Deol will be seen in a double role for the first time in his long career in his forthcoming film Bhaiyyaji Superhit. The film has been produced by Fauzia Arshi under the banner of Daily Multimedia Ltd and is being directed by Neerraj Pathak.

One of the roles has Sunny playing a UP don called 'Bhaiyyaji'. The film is an action- comedy with a social message. Bhaiyyaji Superhit also stars Tusshar, Arshad Warsi, Prakash Raj and Ameesha Patel who is paired opposite Sunny.

Sunny, who has already started shooting for the film, is looking forward to this double role challenge.

Who says that the legends don't fall sick? But what separates the legends from others is the fact that they stand up for their work, despite their ailments. We are indeed referring to the one and only Amitabh Bachchan, who is currently recuperating from his abdominal surgeries. Even though he has not taken up any films and brand endorsements due to this, he just couldn't say no to Indian Premier League (IPL). That's why one will get to see this man in action as he gets set to host the IPL opening ceremony on April 3.

Spilling the beans on the same, Big B tweeted, "Asia Cup over soon and then IPL ...opening extravaganza in Chennai ... and yours truly a small part of it ...nervous as hell. April 3 is the day for the opening, preparing for it already...getting back into the grind."

He also added, "And yes the show will be on Sony...meeting all the Captains and teams will be such an honour...seen all of them on TV, now personally."

Abhay Deol says: Its good to be a Star, then being an Actor.

According to actor Abhay Deol, being a star is better than being an actor. He says stardom keeps getting you loads of work and so you are recognized in the industry.

The actor shared his thoughts and views in the India Today Conclave on “Can You Be a Superstar Without Being an Actor?”, Abhay Deol said: “The truth of the matter is you can be an actor but people don’t know who you are and if you are a star people know you and you get the next project,” he said.

“Unfortunately it is all about making money. It is all about getting the right project and the right platform. Unfortunately here, it is better to be a star than an actor. There is no point in being very artistic when you are a star. You can at least work on your acting when you are a star,” he added.

The actor also admits to the fact that he is insecure in the Bollywood industry as people here tend to judge very quickly.

“It is a very insecure industry a lot of people judge on your last film. It is not that one flop is going to destroy your career but having three in a row, you might see less people hanging around you,” said Abhay Deol.

Salman khan to perform an Item number

Salman Khan’s portrayal of the flamboyant Chulbul Pandey in ‘Dabangg’ has become an iconic character of sorts, for he has set a new trend with his thin handlebar moustache, formal trousers and shirts and his glares hung at the back of his collar.

And who could forget his performance in ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ with his sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan? Though we know for a fact that Kareena Kapoor will be shaking a leg to an item number in the film, here’s another dhamakedar song in store for you.

Kahaani Box Office Collections

Among the two major releases this ‘Holi’ week is Director Sujoy Ghosh’s much anticipated film ‘Kahaani’. Although the movie promos seemed quite interesting and catchy, it has disappointed the traders as it opened to a below-average response even in the multiplexes.

The plex occupancy improved later in the evening but it is still below the 50% mark. Because of its Calcutta connect, it has done well in Bengal, despite the Holi festivities.

In Mumbai, the response was lukewarm, but as the day progressed, collections improved. Gujarat had a different story to tell. The film has not done as well as the hype that was created. It has been able to garner just around Rs. 10 lacs, which makes it doubtful that the collections will rise.

In many other cities, Kahaani was rated between a meager 10-15% record collection. Industry experts conclude that although Kahaani is faring better than the other Holi release, Chaar Din Ki Chandni, it has not been able to collect more than 20-22 lacs in its first day.

The film is basically about a pregnant woman, Vidya Bagchi, who comes down to Calcutta to hunt for her missing husband, Arnab Bagchi. Whether or not the film will improve at the box office collections depends on whether the film is liked by the audiences.

Though hyped a lot even receiving a lot of positive reviews did the movie little good at the box office. Here is the territorial breakdown for the total collection of Kahaani on day 1.

Mumbai – 95 lakhs

Delhi/UP – 50 lakhs

East Punjab – 19 lakhs

West Bengal – 30 lakhs

CP Berar – 9 lakhs

CI – 7 lakhs

Rajasthan – 9 lakhs

Nizam – 10 lakhs

Mysore – 20 lakhs

Others – 10 lakhs

TOTAL – 2.59 crore

The first day total of the film thus came down to a mere 2.59 crores. About 88 lacks was a decent collection for the paid previews of the film on thursday. Come Friday and the movie did show a considerable growth with generating a mere 2.95 crores net at the box office. Having released at a big scale of about 1000 screens it might seem a decent collection but far more was expected from thisVidya Balan starrer. The total collection of the film as of now stands at 3.83 crores. It is expected to wrap up the weekend collection at about 9 crores net.

Irrespective of the fact that Kahaani is perhaps not as ‘entertaining’ as that of The Dirty Pictures, Vidya Balan’s acting in the film is drawing a decent crowd to the theaters. Saturday saw a massive boost in the films box office collection with about 4.75 crores. Sunday saw an even higher box office of 5.25 crores. The weekend seems to have given a massive boost to the film’s box office collection and the first weekend collection of the film now stands at 13.50 crores net. The movie is expected to make a decent pace in the week to follow too.

Gone are the old days were item numbers were considered cheap and were reserved for only those who were willing to go the distance due to lack of work. With the change in the perspective, the new age actresses have become closely associated with item numbers. As Munni and as Sheila Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif is setting the screens on fire.

Thus, how can bollywood’s very own self-proclaimed LA girl Mallika Sherawat be left behind? The starlet’s last dance number was Jalebi Bai in Double Dhamaal. Mallika is again ready to show the viewers another item number from her kitty. Mallika Sherawat has done an item number for the upcoming film Tezz and is hoping that this does what Chikni Chameli did for Katrina and Anarkali Disco Chali for Malaika Arora Khan. The actress says that she is hoping that the producers promote her item number well and hoping that her fans will like it. With not many fans around that seems like a high target.

A number of item numbers give instant fame and Mallika seems to be seeking a reentry into the Bollywood family with her new act. Well, Mallika all we have to say is that here’s hoping!

Mika singh caused another fight.

Mika Singh has become a big name in the field of playback singing for Bollywood films. His songs are found almost in every other movie. The tracks sung by Mika get superhit and become chartbusters all the way. The hummable numbers are loved by the listeners. No doubt his singing quality and his nasal high pitched voice allure the souls and ears. The vocalist is also much notorious for his famous liplock with the item girl and drama queen Rakhi Sawant. Their liplock had landed into the limelight and on the headlines six years back. And it is the kiss which took Rakhi to the heights of success as she had taken the matter to the police.

Now again after six years, Mika has become more mature to doll up another thing of this kind. Yes, Mika misbehaved with the former Miss India Universe Simran Kaur Mundi at a party in Mumbai on Sunday night.

The incident happened in Bandra where Mika along with his friends stepped into the bash and landed into a brawl with Simran and her beau Sunny Gill. Indian cricket team’s player Sreesanth, who was also there, came in between and separated the two (Mika and Sunny).

Simran told a tabloid that she did not know at all Mika as she was introduced by some common friend to him. She added that soon after the introduction, Mika started taking the advances and when she fended off him, he turned angry. She also told that he wanted to get close to her and he made many attempts to do so.

Mundi then revealed that by the time she and her beau Sunny Gill left the party, Mika followed them and passed some derogatory comments and at this point, Sunny intervened the matter. And soon the two landed into a scuffle. She uttered that Mika’s friends too attacked Sunny.

Sunny Gill told the media that Mika had no respect for the ladies, he just wanted to ask him to lay off.
